19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has endured a difficult period, managing just one win at the big events and experiencing a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - caused him dropping out of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Presently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought competitive win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's first championship since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court from spring of 2023.

Victory also indicates he has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one various competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters at once, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," said world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six title deciders, including in Halle in the past months.

His defensive strategy and frequent reactions on the tennis court had led some to wonder if his skill to perform at the elite level was concluded.

But the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and perform positively, reinforced by an better serving game.

He came back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair traded break points in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his initial ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to force a final set.

He defended 4 early-game break points in a close deciding set before the champion won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the win with a shot at the net area, with Moutet failing to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
